Your adventure
Join us for an exciting guided snowshoe walk through the fishing village and around Støtt. Feel the invigorating sea air, enjoy the special quality of the winter light, and experience the exotic landscape of Støtt, an archipelago situated just north of the Arctic Circle. Depending on the weather and our luck, you may see a fantastic sunset or perhaps even the magic dance of the Northern Lights!
What is certain is that snowshoeing is a great way to experience the deep tranquillity of the landscape and our island community, and to feel closer to the birds and wildlife of Støtt.
After a half-hour’s walk we reach the Svenningen plateau. This is one of the highest points on Støtt, offering a panorama that includes the jagged mountains of the Lofoten Islands to the north and Helgeland’s coastal mountains to the southeast. Here we can have a closer look at gun positions and bunkers that were built during the German occupation. Our guide will tell you more about the events of World War II, and share other stories that highlight centuries of local history.
If you want a more extended snowshoeing excursion, you can take the longer path back along the ridge, which offers an even more impressive view.
We conclude our excursion with a guided tour of our Fisheries Museum. Here your guide will share stories from the heyday of Støtt Old Trading Post, which was once one of the most important trading posts in Northern Norway.
