One of the most popular summit hikes on the Helgeland coast is Rødøyløva. Recently, Nepalese Sherpas have built stone stairs that make our ascent easier and more convenient. The view from the mountaintop is unforgettable!
What you will experience
The summit of Rødøyløva offers a phenomenal view, extending from the jagged peaks of the Lofoten Islands in the north to the Vega archipelago in the south. At the foot of the mountain is the stately Klokkergården, and old sexton’s residence, which offers dining in charming historic surroundings.
From Støtt’s guest harbour, we’ll chart a southerly course in our RIB sea raft, arriving at the island of Rødøya about an hour later, docking in Klokkergården’s guest harbour.
You now have the opportunity to ascend Rødøyløva (443 m), one of the finest summit hikes on the Helgeland coast. The clearly marked trail begins a couple of hundred meters from Klokkergården.
On the steepest portion, you climb a thousand steps on Sherpa-built stone stairs. The summit offers a stunning panorama of the literally thousands of islands, islets and skerries that dot the surrounding waters. Please be mindful that there is a sheer cliff on one side. Take your time and enjoy one of the best views in Helgeland.
If you want a guide for your hike up Rødøyløva, please let us know.
We highly recommend eating lunch at Klokkergården. If you wish, we can help you book a table.
