Suddenly in the darkness, you see vast ribbons of green light moving, and at moments they may feel close enough to touch. This is the dance of the Northern Lights! Many travellers have come to Northern Norway just to see this amazing performance on the starry vault!

What you will experience

When conditions are right, you need only walk outside the house where you are staying at Støtt to see the Northern Lights. As you walk through our still-thriving fishing community, you can sense its history and proud heritage. At night, as you step away from the houses, you can see the starry sky incredibly clearly, undisturbed by any light pollution. This is the perfect place to come in your hunt for the dancing Aurora Borealis – and this in itself may well be worth your trip to Støtt!

After you have dined on great seafood in Gamlebutikken Restaurant, our Northern Lights Guide will take you up to the museum above and show you an insightful film about the Northern Lights. Here you will hear the myths and stories about the magical lights, as well as a scientific explanation of this heavenly phenomenon. Afterwards, we’ll go out together and hunt for the Northern Lights.

Our walk takes us to our base camp where we’ll light a fire, enjoy a hot beverage and peer at the sky for the Northern Lights.

Naturally we cannot guarantee a performance of the Northern Lights. But we most certainly can guarantee fascinating stories about them, and an exciting “hunt”.

The duration of this experience will depend on the weather.
